Worcester Schubertiade Summer Sings at Southgate
What is a Schubertiade? During Schubert’s lifetime, it was an intimate gathering of friends in a private home which featured Schubert’s music, poetry readings, dance and other sociable pastimes. Today, under the guidance of Executive Director Stanley Wilson and Artistic Director Sondra Kelly Worcester Schubertiade’s mission is to present accessible live performances of vocal and instrumental classical music in an intimate setting. Southgate is pleased to host this open to the public event throughout June featuring extraordinary singers from Boston, Metro-west and Worcester. The program schedule is as follows:
June 7th – Love and the Triangle – Opera Arias
June 14th – Death and Murder – Opera Arias
June 21st – Songs from Operettas
June 28th – Musical Theatre NightALL residents are welcome to join us each Thursday night for these 4 delightful “Summer Sings”.
Art Matters
SPANISH MASTERS: Master painters El Greco, Diego Velazquez and Francisco Goya recorded far more than the flavor of Spanish life and history. The wealthiest and most powerful country in Europe was also the most repressed. Join us for a look into almost 300 years of Spanish art and culture.
