WISE Program
“Amphibious Warfare Through the Centuries” taught by Dr. John Ferriss. This course will review amphibious landings from the Greeks and the Romans to the Korean War. Southgate Residents are admitted to the class free of charge.
Author Talk with Melissa Maglio
“The Artist and the Army: A Lifetime of Creative Thought” is a compilation of work by a gentleman artist, peace-loving patriot and World War II army veteran. Warren Clark narrates his story of life as a young, ordinary GI, following the front lines across Europe and his subsequent battle with polio. Both events impacted the life ahead, the body of work he produced, and the dichotomy of feelings he shares as a humanist and lay minister during the civil rights era. Melissa Maglio is an Artist and writer working in Northborough. Last winter she undertook a remarkable journey into the past of her father, when she stumbled upon his writings and memories of his childhood and WWII experiences. She shares this small piece of personal history, along with his works of art in the book, The Artist and the Army.
