Music & Dance from the Great American SongbookMaking their Southgate debut, The Modernistics perform toe-tapping favorites by Irving Berlin, Harold Arlen, Duke Ellington and other great American tunesmiths. Expect an exhilarating mix, with high-energy song and dance numbers like Sunny Side of the Street, Top Hat, Paper Moon, and It Don’t Mean A Thing If It Ain’t Got That Swing.The Modernistics are the stellar singing and tap-dancing team of Ted and Pamela Powers, with virtuoso jazz musicians Peter H. Bloom on flute, Mark Leighton on guitar, and Dave Zox on double-bass. They have captivated audiences across the Northeast, with appearances at the Ocean Park Music Festival, Medallion Opera House, Tillotson Center, the Middletown Concert Association, and other venues. Members of the group have impressive credentials with leading jazz, blues and classical ensembles, and have taught and performed extensively in the United States and abroad.

Join Jesse this afternoon in the theatre for an introductory Workshop on the joys of tap dancing. There’s no special equipment required, no experience necessary and no pre-registration! Just the ability to have fun! Feel free to bring song title suggestions along too!

Global Connect Forum is an education center in Northborough, MA that offers foreign language services and translation & interpretation services. Southgate will be offering a 12-session class on Basic Spanish each Thursday afternoon beginning on the 28th. Class size is limited and previous registration was required.

Join us for a journey around the world and throughout history, with art, to see and appreciate how connected we are, and how well we understand our relationships with our pets.

Southgate hosts this annual Shrewsbury event this evening where girls from 5th to 12th grade will be participating to represent the Shrewsbury community as the Junior Miss Shrewsbury 2019. All residents are welcome to attend this public event.
