Southgate Welcomes Back Fred Marple from Frost Heaves!
“Fred Marple’s Guide to New England” (for Locals and People from Away) is a hilarious look at all the things about Yankees that seem to confuse outsiders. Fred will discuss Yankee food, including why we think baked beans and vegetables boiled with a piece of corned beef are examples of haute cuisine. He’ll examine Yankee fashion, and life in a small town, where everyone knows your business — often before you! Fred has appeared on New Hampshire Chronicle, on the radio, in the pages of Yankee Magazine and New Hampshire Magazine, and on stage all over New England. Fred has been called “hilarious,” “a hoot,” and “smarter than he looks.” Don’t miss this special “April Fool’s” performance! - 0202.April.Tuesday
Art Gallery Exhibit Reception
Our next art gallery exhibit features the work of Peg Munson. Peg’s artist statement reads, in part, as follows: I designed and created stained glass for ten years, selling pieces in galleries on Cape Cod and in Newport, RI. I transitioned to painting and photography when my severe arthritis made working with glass too difficult. My preferred medium is pastel. I have won ribbons for both photography and pastel paintings. Landscapes that feature water are my favorite subject. The reception will also feature classical guitarist Mark Small. Refreshments will be served.
