The Underground Railroad in Shrewsbury and the North Precinct: Examining the Evidence Have you ever wondered whether the Underground Railroad trail led through our town? After extensive research, some of us believe that it did! What were the clues? Where were they found? Who aided in the escape? Where were the safe houses? Why was everything so secret? Join us this morning to learn some of the answers! Carol Baker, long time Shrewsbury resident, genealogy and history buff, will present over 5 years of evidence that she stumbled upon in her role as one of the historians at the 300-year-old First Congregational Church. All are welcome to the presentation.

“A Romantic Stroll through Many Lands and Cultures” Pianist Malcolm Halliday will showcase Romantic piano music from its beginnings in Europe in the early 1800s to its later flowerings well into the 20th century in the New World. Beginning with Schumann’s charming early work Papillons, Op. 2 and Chopin’s Ballade no. 2 in F major, this entertaining lecture recital will also explore many lesser known corners of the repertoire.
