Jazz Vocalist Wendee Glick
Welcome back this talented, charismatic jazz sing- er with a roaring voice! Wendee Glick “arrived” in 2002 with a strong debut album and an impressive pedigree in the arts. Based in the New England area, Glick grew to love jazz from her mother’s career as a singer. She was soon studying music at the University of Lowell. Growing a fondness for jazz legends like Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan, Glick became a fixture in several New England jazz clubs.

Gary Hylander Lecture “An American Sampler: Secretaries of State”
Gary continues this series with William Henry Seward. William Henry Seward was one of the most important men of the nineteenth century. As governor of New York, founder of the Republican Party and out- spoken abolitionist, he was the odds-on favorite to receive the Republican Party’s nomination for president in 1860. Lincoln however, emerged as the party’s nominee while Seward secured the po- sition of Secretary of State. As Secretary of State, Seward not only managed foreign affairs but also played an important role in the political and mili- tary affairs of the Civil War years.
