Women’s Circle Breakfast
Our speaker for our December 12 Women’s Circle is Michael Cross, Assoc. Prof. of Chemistry and Chair of Natural Sciences at Northern Essex Community College. He is also known as “The Chocolate Guy,” and the title of his talk is “Chocolate: The Perfect Indulgence.” Prof. Cross will tell us which chemicals elicit biochemical reactions in the human brain, making chocolate the perfect indulgence. Explore the history of chocolate and the chemistry behind our love of chocolate. You will also find out that chocolate consumption has some surprising health benefits. During the presentation you will also learn how to taste chocolate for quality and how to eat it, too. Prof. Cross teaches all levels of chemistry, including physiological and organic chemistry. He also developed and teaches the new forensic science at NECC. Due to his love of teaching, he was recently honored as a National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development award winner at a national conference in Austin, TX.
