Women’s Circle
Our featured speaker is Laura Garrity-Arquitt, Registrar at the Museum of Russian Icons in Clinton, MA. The title of her presentation is “From Caves to Cathedrals.” Laura will use images from the collection of the museum to explore the tradition and history of Russian Orthodox iconography. Laura studied History, Museum Studies, and Art History at Regis College and graduated in 2008 when she was hired as a part time Curatorial and Administrative Assistant at the Museum of Russian Icons. In early 2009 she became the Curator at the Clinton Historical Society, a position she holds to this day and in 2010 she became the full-time Registrar at the Museum of Russian Icons.

Continuation WISE Program I
“Why the Cold War Wasn’t so Hot” with instructor Jed Watters. This course will examine the political and public assumptions that sustained the Cold War. Open to the public. Southgate residents may attend class free of charge.
SloGrass Band
SloGrass plays a mix of vocal and instrumental songs, drawing on various traditions including Bluegrass, Jazz, Folk, World Music and a few originals. It’s a fun night not to be missed!

“World War I” with instructor Dr. John Ferriss. A centennial look at the enormously destructive war in Europe with an emphasis on the American involvement. Open to the public. Southgate residents may attend class free of charge.
“The Art of Good Nutrition” presented by Judy Palken, MNS, RD, LDN
Judy is a registered dietitian from Northborough working in nutrition and health research in the Division of Preventive and Behavioral Medicine at U Mass Medical School in Worcester. Her presentation will include fine art images to teach about simple dietary changes to reduce inflammation, promote overall health, and feel your best.
