Pianist Malcolm Halliday & violinist Yulia Zhuravleva
No stranger to Southgate, Pianist, Organist and Conductor Malcolm Halliday has performed in both the United States and Europe. Formerly the resident pianist for the American Schubert Institute in Boston as well as Artistic Director of a Worcester Schubertiad, Malcolm also served until his recent retirement as the Minister of Music at the First Congregational Church of Shrewsbury, MA and as the Artistic Director of the Master Singers of Worcester. He now performs frequently in his newly adopted city of San Miguel de Allende, in Guanajuato, Mexico. A native Russian, Ms. Yulia Zhuravleva is a representative of the Russian “passionate” style of violin playing. She has received awards from the All-Russian Chamber Ensemble Competition, Maria Yudina International Competition, and the International Competition in Jyvaskyla. She holds a concertmaster position at the Union Symphony Orchestra in North Carolina and is a member of Roanoke Symphony Orchestra in Virginia.

Skinner’s Appraisal Event
Founded over four decades ago, Skinner offers more than 60 auctions annually. Skinner auctions reach an international audience and showcase the unique, rare, and beautiful in dozens of categories, including the fine and decorative arts, jewelry, modern design, musical instruments, science and technology, wine, and many others. This afternoon Director of Appraisal & Auction Services, LaGina Austin, will conduct a “What its Worth” event whereby residents who have previously signed up to participate may have an item assessed as part of the presentation. ALL residents are welcome to enjoy the display however, assessment requests MUST be registered in the program book.

Men’s Breakfast
The Men’s Breakfast Club is honored to welcome General and Mrs. Artemas Ward to Southgate this morning! Aka Jim and Marcia Smith, longtime Shrewsbury residents will be on-hand to share the story of these somewhat “forgotten” patriots involved in major historical events from 1750-1800 in the New England area. Marcia spent 25 years in the education system as a curriculum specialist while Jim taught at Shrewsbury High for 25 years. He holds a Ph.D. in Colonial History.
Trip to Hanover Theater “The King and I”
We have premium center seats to the Lincoln Center Theater production of one of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s finest works. Winner of the 2015 Tony Award for Best Musical Revival, the show is a beloved classic. Previous registration required.
Regatta Players Auditions/Rehearsals
Regatta Players will begin rehearsals for their up-coming production of Mel Brooks’ musical comedy “Young Frankenstein” in August. Residents are welcome to quietly observe the rehearsal process.
