Lady Warwick: Portrait of a Controversial Woman Considered one of the great beauties of the Victorian era, the Countess of Warwick, lived a charmed and controversial life. Both a socialite and socialist, this celebrated wife, mother, and mistress had all the right connections, including a nine-year affair with the Prince of Wales. This lecture by the Director Emeritus of the Worcester Art Museum recounts the colorful story of Lady Warwick’s monumental portrait of her and her son Maynard painted by John Singer Sargent.
