Matthew Driscoll presents "Icelandic Rimur"
We welcome back Matthew James Driscoll to the podium at Southgate. Rímur (which means simply “rhymes”), is a uniquely Icelandic form of epic poetry, sung or chanted in a very special way. Rímur have been around since the 14th century and were for many centuries the most popular literary genre and form of entertainment in Iceland. Matthew is a Professor of Old Norse Philology at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark, where he has been employed for the last 23 years. He studied in Scotland, Iceland and England, and has a doctorate from the University of Oxford. Most importantly, he is our own Barbara Driscoll’s son!

Women's Circle Breakfast
Our guest speaker for this morning’s Women’s Circle Breakfast is Jessica Stott, the Regional Director of Greater Worcester Behavioral Concepts, Inc. The title of her presentation is “Autism: Let’s Get Down to the Facts: Treatment Approaches and Into the Daily Lives of Those Diagnosed.” More than 3.5 million Americans live with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, and the prevalence in the United States is estimated at one in 59 births (CDC, 2018). Through the use of a systemic, evidence-based approach, Applied Behavior Analysis is a proven way to improve socially significant behaviors in children with Autism. As the go-to provider of ABA intervention to children diagnosed with ASD in Central Massachusetts, Behavioral Concepts services over 500 clients and families with the goal of providing treatment for behavior change to meet individualized milestones. ALL are welcome to join us for the presentation.
