Voices of Resistance & Critical Patriotism Throughout American history inspiring figures have offered alternative visions of our national identity and community. In this course we will study a handful of such critical patriots, discussing their lives and identities, voices and texts, and historical moments and contexts. GROUP LEADER: Benjamin Railton is a Professor of English and American Studies at Fitchburg State University. He is author of four books, most recently History and Hope in American Literature: Models of Critical Patriotism, 2016. Southgate residents are admitted to the class free of charge. Class will continue through May 3rd, 2019.
