Southgate Community Art Show “We Create at Southgate”
“The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul”~Dieter F. Uchtdorf. Join us as Southgate residents display their works of art in a variety of medium in this afternoon’s community-wide gala exhibit! Don’t miss this opportunity to experience first hand how ‘Southgate Creates’. Musical accompaniment provided by guitarist Peter Clemente. An eclectic musician with influences from both classical and improvisatory traditions, his playing has been described as “sumptuous classical guitar”, “hauntingly expressive”.

Jim Welu : “The Bordello in Dutch Art”
The bordello was a popular subject in 17th century Dutch art. Known as bordeeltjes, these colorful scenes of prostitutes, procuresses, and their clients were used to teach moral principles. This lecture explores the full meaning of these brothel scenes and how they relate to the actual business of prostitution during Holland’s Golden Age.

Men’s Breakfast
The Men’s Breakfast Club is thrilled to welcome Wayne McAuliffe, Volunteer Program Manager for the Community Harvest Project located in North Grafton. CHP is a non-profit farm that engages volunteers to grow fresh fruits and vegetables to provide to those experiencing hunger. Through their volunteer farming programs, they bring thousands of community members together each year to improve access to healthy foods for individuals and families in need across the county.

Bridge Class
Certified Bridge Instructor Jeanne Martin returns to Southgate for basic Bridge instruction for beginners as well as a “refresher” course for those already in the know! ALL are welcome!
Continuation WISE Program I
“Why the Cold War Wasn’t so Hot” with instructor Jed Watters. This course will examine the political and public assumptions that sustained the Cold War. Open to the public. Southgate residents may attend class free of charge.
