WISE Program
Voices of Resistance & Critical Patriotism Throughout American history inspiring figures have offered alternative visions of our national identity and community. In this course we will study a handful of such critical patriots, discussing their lives and identities, voices and texts, and historical moments and contexts. GROUP LEADER: Benjamin Railton is a Professor of English and American Studies at Fitchburg State University. He is author of four books, most recently History and Hope in American Literature: Models of Critical Patriotism, 2016. Southgate residents are admitted to the class free of charge. Class will continue through April 2019.
Kevin Farley: The Irish Music Guy
Kevin Farley IS Irish music and is no stranger to Southgate! He has more than 750 Irish tunes to his credit, and plays 12 instruments combining his musical skills, wry humor, and charismatic style into a show that energizes and entertains audiences of all ages! Don’t miss this unique entertainer.
